Deets On Medicare For All
I love the concept of Medicare For All.
I hate the actual bill(s) as written.
They’re bloated, leave employees shafted, give insurance carrier CEOs a big payday with the buyouts, and do little to nothing to actually *improve* the quality of care, they just shift everyone over to the already broken Medicare and Medicaid systems.
That doesn’t work for me.
I suggest that we implement Medicare-X and kick-start the public option.
Medicare-X or another variation of a public option would force competition in the healthcare industry – by raising the quality of care while lowering costs – and forces the insurance carriers to either refocus as an industry or pursue bankruptcy.
A public option decouples healthcare from employers, giving unions more bargaining power for wages and benefits.
A public option would also get America a step closer to universal health care coverage.
